Key West – Margaritaville :)

Key West – Margaritaville :)

After a relaxing 2 nights in Key Largo, Friday morning we headed out to Key West.  Many, many years ago, back in the Realtor Days, I had attended a Real Estate Convention in Miami. Several of us rented a car and decided to drive down to Key West to have a Margarita at Jimmy Buffet’s Margaritaville.   I remember how amazing it was to be driving over the ocean with the Gulf of Mexico on one side and the Atlantic on the other and the sheer beauty of the color of the water.  And indeed we drove down, had 1 Margarita and drove back to Miami.

Based on a recommendation we saw in the Tiffin Group, we made reservations at Boyd’s RV Resort about 7 miles outside Key West, easy cab distance.  We reserved waterfront and ended up on the peninsula exactly where we hoped.   When we checked in, they had the BEST camp store ever.  Carried a lot of Jam’s World clothes which I loved when we traveled to Maui every year (have many cute outfits in a box at home waiting to fit into.)  In fact they had a great tropical looking Jam’s World robe I would have bought.  Sadly, did not fit around me yet 🙁 Got in around 1 and made our super salads and sat behind the rig on the water having lunch.

One of the main reasons for coming to Key West was to visit Dry Tortugas National Park.  Since it is out in the ocean you need to take the ferry or the sky plane and both were completely booked 4 days out 🙁  We did not have time to stay that long and lesson learned is to plan in advance. Gives us another reason to come back to Key West.  Check it out below….

We decided to get a cab into town and while waiting in the office/gift store up front at the park, saw a great Key Largo charm.  Mentioned I had a Pandora bracelet and wondered if there was any way to attach the charm to my bracelet.  The salesperson suggested I visit a jewelry store on Duval Street which carried lots of Pandora Charms.  We had the cab drop us off in front and found a great charm.  For my last weight loss reward, the charm I ordered did not fit, so this one replaced that. It a buoy which represents the southern most point in the continental US.

After getting my charm, we walked around Key West and hung out waiting for sunset at the Sunset Pier and then walked through a Friday Night Art Walk on the pier before hearing back to our rig for the night.
